Paul W. Frye


Paul Wesley Frye was born in Hopkins, MN on November 2nd, 1936 to Carl Frye and Ruth Ruhl Frye. A long-time resident of the Kansas City area, he passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO on July 27th, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, his wife Lorene, and grandchildren Danielle Elizabeth Winslow, and Joseph Michael Robertson.

He is survived by 3 daughters; Debra (David) Winslow, Paula Robertson, and Kathy Roberts, 6 grandchildren; Naomi Winslow (David) Fannin, Benjamin (Lisa) Winslow, Jaime Robertson (Micah) Klausen, Ross Robertson, Joshua (Jessica) Roberts, Jeremy Roberts, and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as 8 nieces and nephews.

He attended Storm Lake, Iowa High School where he was selected to play on the Lakes All-Conference football team, competed in track, and graduated from in May, 1955. The following November he enlisted in the Marine Corp, where he served his country for 3 years. He then attended North Dakota School of Science.

In December of 1962, he married Lorene Plain. He worked as a horticulturist for many years, with some of his fondest memories derived from his years of living at, and working for the Jackson County Park system at Lake Jacomo in Missouri.

After a car accident that left him a paraplegic in 1981, he retrained for a new career as a computer programmer at the University of Missouri. From 1982 through 1995 he worked for the US Department of Agriculture. He then retired and moved to Urbana, MO, where he started his food product business, Ozark Country Fixins, to occupy his time. He later returned to the Kansas City area to be near family.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am, August 9th at Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO. A Celebration of Life Barbeque will follow at Shelter 8, Lake Jacomo.
