Paul Wesley Rice age 86 of Independence, MO passed away on Tuesday October 23, 2018. Services were held on Saturday October 27, 2018 2:00 p.m. at the new Salem Funeral Home. Burial followed at the New Salem Cemetery. Donations can be made to Shriners Hospital in St Louis or St Luke’s Hospice House.
Paul was born on October 9, 1932 in Springfield, MO. the son of Lawson Claude and Grace Violet (Slate) Rice. He was a retired Teamster Truck Driver. Collected antiques, pocket knives, coins and watches, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. He was a fan of Royals Baseball and loved his dog Muffy.
Paul is survived by his daughter Sherry (Steve) Hammond of Independence, Mo. many grandchildren & great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol in 2017, son Steven Rice and daughter Karen Ballowe, three sisters and two brothers.
