Ralph D. DellaRocco Jr., 84, of Grain Valley, MO, born March 2, 1932 in Schenectady, NY, succumbed to his 3rd battle with cancer on June 22, 2016 at University of Kansas Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 27th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
He was the son of the late Ralph DellaRocco Sr. and Marie (DeLorenzo) DellaRocco. His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Karen of the home; 6 children: Mark Bishop of IN, Ralph DellaRocco III (Michelle) of NY, Ronald DellaRocco (Margaret) of FL, Tina Silvernail (John) of NC, Dawn Smith (Rick) of MO, and Lori Roberts (Wayne) of FL; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; and several cousins.
“Rocky”, as he was known, retired from the State of New York as a Senior Offset Printer after 32 years. He and Karen retired to Florida and lived there in the sunshine until 2009 when they moved to Missouri. He enjoyed building model planes, helicopters, and boats; raising plants of many varieties, but mostly fruit trees; and feeding birds. Rocky also leaves behind many friends, and he looked forward to their breakfast days with them so he could give them a hard time!! If he picked on you, you knew he loved you! His wit and infectious laugh will be missed.
