Richard E. Butler, Sr., 63, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 16th, 2009 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri. The family will receive friends for Visitation on Monday, October 19th, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the services Tuesday, October 20th, at 3:30 p.m. in the South Point Cemetery, Orrick, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to the American Kidney Fund-6110 Executive Boulevard, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
Richard was born on October 5th, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to Walter and Alta Marie (Hicks) Butler. On November 12th, 1966, Richard married his wife of 43 years, Patricia (Craighead) Butler. He worked as an Owner Operator, Mechanic, Welder, Parts Salesman, and a Painter. Richard loved drag racing, building cars and engines, fishing and hunting.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alta Butler.
His survivors include wife Patricia Butler of the home, one son, Richard Jr. his wife Andrea Butler and their daughter, Cristina, of Oak Grove, MO, one daughter, Tracy Wilson her husband Lynn, and their son Jonathan of Rapid City, SD, one brother, Wilbur (Jan) Butler of Independence, MO, two sisters, Jayne (Steve) Copeland of Grain Valley, MO, and Carol Butler of Independence, MO., numerous nieces and nephews.
