Richard Nelson, 78, of Oak Grove, MO passed away October 17, 2014.
Visitation will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. Memorial service will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Athletic Booster Club.
Richard was born August 9, 1936 in Mason City, IA to Rangvald & Cora Nelson.
He married Augusta Voigt on August 11, 1962.
Richard worked for Western Auto, Standard Oil and KW Dart. Richard was an avid high school sports fan and especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play. He had also coached several little league baseball teams.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kristin Maschger in 2003.
Richard is survived by his wife Augusta Nelson of the home; 2 sons: Ross Nelson (Mary) of Overland Park, KS, Brad Nelson (Kelly) of Independence, MO; son-in-law: John Maschger of Lee’s Summit, MO; 5 grandchildren: Taylor Maschger, Aiden Maschger, Blake Nelson, Ava Nelson, Zane Nelson.
