Richard “Rick” Steven Miller, 47, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away at home on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Rick was born on April 9, 1971 in Kansas City, MO, son of Daniel and Susan (Hurst) Miller. He graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1989. He had a lifelong interest and love for airplanes and was an A&P and IA licensed mechanic, he could fix anything. Rick started flying at an early age and obtained a pilot’s license at age 16. For 17 years he was Chief Aircraft Technician for VT Inc. where he maintained several corporate jets. Later he became self-employed specializing in aerobatic and vintage airplanes. He was always there for his family with anything they needed. He is preceded in death by his mother, Susan Miller; and his grandparents, Aubrey and Freda Miller, and William and Katherine Hurst.
Rick’s survivors include his father, Daniel Miller of Grain Valley; his sister, Katherine Hankel (Jeff) of Olathe, KS; his brother, Timothy Miller (Crystal) of Greenwood, MO; his 2 nephews, Elijah and Luke Hankel; his companion of 19 years, Brenda Scritchfield of the home; her children, Rebecca Lewis, Victoria Scritchfield, and Chris Scritchfield; and 10 grandchildren.
