Richard S. Haynik

Richard Steven Haynik, 81, of Bates City, Missouri, passed away on November 30, 2020 at his home, surrounded by those who loved him.  Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Bates City with burial in Bates City Cemetery.

Richard was born on October 17, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Steven and Anna (Mikula) Haynik.  He was proud of being a lineman for 30+ years.  Rich had a brilliant mind and was a life-long creator, inventor, and builder of all things.  His true gift was reaching others.  Rich’s legacy of creativity will live on in his physical creations and in the lessons he taught us all.  He also had a love of flying, loved doing anything on his land, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Annie in 2019; sister Joanne Milner; and brother John “Jack” Haynik.

His survivors include four children: Suzanne Shipman (Kevin) of Bates City, MO, Michael Gross (Mickie) of Oak Grove, MO, Michelle Kratz (Steve) of Grain Valley, MO, and Kathy Bauer (Mike) of Blue Springs, MO; eight grandchildren: Monica Fortner, Kelly Snelling, Timothy Zeller, Raichal Green, Christopher Bauer, Courtney Bauer, Hailey Martin, and Paige Martin; and ten great-grandchildren.
