Ricky “Rick” Steve Yates, 58, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute.
Rick was born September 5, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Robert S. and Burnice R. (Bourquin) Yates. He was a cabinet maker and loved his grandkids, music, dogs, chickens, his garden, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball, Mavericks hockey, and westerns.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roger Yates.
His survivors include his wife, Betty Yates of the home; two daughters: Amber Coffman (Jason) and Maggie Howard (Michael), all of Independence; two grandchildren: Steven Howard and Sarah Howard; two brothers: Victor Yates and Robert Yates, both of Independence; and one sister, Annette Yates of Warrensburg; and a host of nieces and nephews.
