Robert Rockett


Robert (Dick) Rockett of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his home.  A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley with a memorial service at 8:00 p.m.  A second funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6th at Million Taylor Funeral Home, Moberly, MO, with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.; burial in Higbee City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to American Lung Association or to the contributor’s choice.

Dick was born on January 6, 1952, in Higbee, Missouri, the son of Charles & Ruth Rockett.  He graduated from Higbee High School in 1969 and went to work at AB Chance Co.  In 1983, he married Shirley Taylor and they moved to Grain Valley.  He worked for Vile Gollar / Graystone Graphics for 22 years, changing to Burd & Fletcher 4 years ago.  Dick loved spending time with his family, taking his grandchildren, nephews, and extended family fishing and boating on nearby lakes, shooting guns, and making sure they all had go carts, four wheelers, motorcycles, all the things to make lasting memories.  He always had a kind word, a helping hand, a funny story, and always a smile.  Dick was loved by everyone that knew him and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Shirley Rockett; four children: Scott Taylor (Denise), Jennifer Genova (Steve), Carri Taylor O’Riley (Rick), Jamie Rockett (Morgan); ten grandchildren: Taylor & Hannah Lutjen, Randi & Cameron O’Riley, Sophia, Elaina & Andrew Genova, Derek & Kierston Rockett, and Wyatt Taylor; three siblings: Charla Bankhead, Malinda Backenfeld, & Melanie Letchenburg; and many nieces & nephews.
