Robert F. Lappat


Robert Frank Lappat, 81, of Independence, MO, passed away February 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the Gathering Space at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 611 N. Liberty St. Independence, MO 64050. For the visitation, please use the North entrance. Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at the church. Family will say the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Robert was born July 23, 1937 in Omaha, NE to Frank & Dorothea (Franklin) Lappat. He married Leona C. Perkins on March 2, 1957, in Sedalia, MO. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and Pa.  He was known as Pa by those who loved him, as well numerous friends. Robert worked for the Railroad for 44 years.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Robert loved to go hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents: Frank & Dorothea Lappat; sister: Shirley Lappat; grandson: Alec Lappat.

Robert is survived by his wife Leona Lappat of the home; 10 children: Judy (Steven) Hedges of Independence, MO, Robert  (Katrina) Lappat of Independence, MO, Thomas (Gail) Lappat of Independence, MO, Richard (Ann) Lappat of Buckner, MO, Trisha Redman of Oak Grove, MO, Rodney (Melissa) Lappat, of Independence, MO, Nancy (Chuck) Silvers of Odessa, MO, Angela (Todd) Ashford of Independence, MO, Tammy (Tony) Gillpatrick of Camdenton, MO, Jeffrey (Ashley) Lappat of Sibley, MO and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by all and never forgotten.
