Robert Ganaden

On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Robert Ganaden, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 73.

Visitation will b e 10-11 a.m. Tuesday November 9, 2021 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral to follow at 11 a.m.

Robert was born on March 20, 1948 in Kansas City, MO to Glenn and Opal Ganaden. After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy, he returned to Kansas City where he worked for Hallmark Cards for 36 years and then “retired” to work at Rockhurst College for 13 years. On June 29, 1991 he married Phyllis Ganaden. Robert had a lifelong passion for hunting. Many of his closest friendships were built around a warm campfire after long cold days sitting quietly in the woods. When it wasn’t hunting season, he found joy in cruises and road trips with his “sweetheart” Phyllis. A man of infinite patience, the only things that could rile him were his beloved Chiefs and not getting his money’s worth at a buffet! Whether you called him Robert, Bob, Bobert, or even Rockin’ Rob, he always had a warm and ready smile to return. He loved to make people laugh and feel welcome with his sense of humor, his infectious chuckle, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, his mother Opal, and his sister Delores.

Robert is survived by his wife Phyllis, his brothers Morris Ganaden (Genny), and Mike Ganaden (Lynda), children Kimberly Ganaden (Danny Webb), Rachel Herbig (Scott), Nicholas Ganaden, Jamie Conley (Shawna), and Jeri Snow (Russ), grandchildren James Betsworth (Mariah), Joshua Betsworth, Noah Conley, Alli Brock, Reba Bowen, Grace Conley, Amelia Conley, Jaden Snow, Elodie Herbig, Josh Snow, Caleb Snow, as well as several nieces and nephews.
