Roy Alvin Rosamond, 85, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Roy was born March 23, 1934, in Lurton, Arkansas, the son of Freddrick A. and Flora (Overturf) Rosamond. He married Jean McGlasson on his 18th birthday, March 23, 1952. Roy spent most of his working career at Rupert’s Manufacturing as a supervisor. Most recently, he had worked at Oram Manufacturing, where he worked on forklifts. Roy enjoyed bowling, golfing, and all things baseball – whether it was coaching when his sons were young or watching the Royals.
His survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jean Rosamond of the home; two children: Donna Reader and Michael Rosamond; his brother, Elroy Rosamond; four grandchildren: Ernie Stewart (Michelle), Ryan Luna (Olivia), Richard Luna, and Shannon Jorgenson (Matt); two step-grandchildren: Matthew Reader (Mary) and Jennifer Peek (Mike); and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Roy E. Rosamond.
