Ruth Irene Sanders, 69, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 at her home in Independence, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 18th at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in New Salem Cemetery, Independence. The family will greet guests from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Ruth was born on November 21, 1949 in Kenmare, North Dakota, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Dodge) Knudson. She married Odis Sanders on December 30, 1971 and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2013. Ruth enjoyed
shoe shopping, knitting, sewing, and accordion music. She also liked traveling to Branson and going camping. Ruth belonged to New Hope Baptist Church and sang in the choir. Most of all, she loved her family and will be deeply missed.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Her survivors include one son, Chad Sanders (Nichelle) of Independence; two daughters: Lisa Sanders of Independence, and Lanette Engdahl (Jay) of Mandan ND; one stepson, Gene Sanders (Marlene) of Paradise, TX; eight grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Overby of Seattle, WA; four brothers: Harold Knudson of Deering, ND, Clarence Knudson of Minot, ND. Walter Knudson of Sidney, MT, and Joel Knudson of Seattle, WA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
