Shirley McDonald Jefferies-Brady 74 of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and her cherished pets on Monday, April 1, 2011. Shirley’s love of life and her faith in God carried her gracefully through 8 months of chemo. She never complained or lost her will to live. Shirley’s personality matched her fiery red hair and freckles. She was born January 8, 1937 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Cecil and Lydia McDonald. Shirley was a graduate of Benton High School, a member of Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority and attended Blue Springs Christian Church. She retired from Macy’s and Dillard’s where she worked in the Fragrance Department. Shirley was currently employed by the Blue Springs School district as a lunch hostess and a crossing guard. Shirley is survived by her daughter Shelley Jefferies-Mullane, grandsons Connor and Collin Mullane, brother Dennis Lee McDonald all of Blue Springs and her first husband Jerry Jefferies of Independence. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pat Brady and many aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO, with committal service at 2:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. The family will receive friends Monday, April 4th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to ASPCA, 520 8th Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018.
