Stephen Lee Foster, 70, of Independence, MO passed away July 2, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Visitation 2-3p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral service to follow at 3p.m. Burial at New Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susquehanna Baptist Church 17800 E. Susquehanna Rd. Independence, MO 64056
Stephen was born May 17, 1951 in Blue Springs, MO to Freddie L & Velda C. (Niece) Foster. He married Gayle M. Butler on September 13, 1969. Stephen was a member of the UAW and retired from General Motors Fairfax after 30 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, both road trips and cruises. Stephen also enjoyed the casinos, watching the Chiefs and 4th of July.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 51 years Gayle; Children: Bryan Foster (Kim), Angela Leonard (David) all of Independence, MO; 3 grandchildren: Chandler Leonard, Stephenie Leonard, Daniel Foster; sister: Sharon Burton (Jim) of Raymore, MO and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents: Freddie and Velda Foster.

22 Feb 2022I’m so sorry for your loss. Stephen and I were cousins and used to see other at family reunions that were held at Reva Lowe’s house ( my grandmother) in Brookfield, Mo. I would like to hear from Sharon Barton.
