Thomas Charles Hayward, 65, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 after a prolonged illness. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26th at Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Thomas was born December 30, 1948, in Cole Camp, Missouri, the son of Jonathan R. and Louella (Kroenke) Hayward. He lived his entire life in western and central Missouri. He was active in the auto racing community, owning and working on many cars and teams during his life. Thomas was known for his generosity, his irreverent sense of humor, and his ability to tell a great story.
A loving father and husband, he is survived by his wife, Pat; children, Tamara, Christopher, Angela, Andrea, & Eric; brothers, Johnny & Ted; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
