Tom was born on July 2, 1941 in Milan, MO to William Edward and Annie (Hope) McCaughey. After graduating Milan High School in 1959, he moved to Kansas City, MO to begin his career at Hallmark Cards Inc. There he met the love of his life, Susie (Brewer) and they were united in marriage on February 18, 1961. They were blessed by sharing 58 joyful years and four children. Tom retired after 39 1/2 years from Hallmark and spent the next 20 years enjoying the fruits of his labor by rebuilding a 1929 Model A Roadster Pickup with his brother, Larry, and running his grandchildren back and forth to school and practices. Tom built a home, lovingly called “the McCaughey Inn,” that had an open-door policy and was regularly filled with visiting family and friends. Tom always exercised his sense of humor and carried a smile on his face. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins was unmatched, and we will miss him every day.
Survivors include three children: Brian McCaughey (wife Stacey) of Leavenworth, KS, Mindy Pollock (husband Randy) of Oak Grove, MO, and Tim McCaughey (husband Michael Veasey) of Garland, TX; six grandchildren: Ashley McCaughey (partner Tommy), Sarah Carter (husband Chris), Ryan Bohannon (partner Kayla), Raven Bullimore (husband Nick), Colton Pollock (fiance Livvy) and Kyler Pollock; two great grandchildren: Madalynn McCaughey and Rylee Ward; two brothers: Larry McCaughey of Milan, and Bill (wife Teresa) of Milan, three sisters: Betty Dudley (husband Lilburn) of Knoxville, IA, Kathy Burris (husband Gene) of Meadville, MO., and Mary Carter (husband Raymond) of LaPlata, MO; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and precious friends.
