Thomas Robert Mathews, 63, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2015.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Thomas was born on August 4, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico, the son of George & Shirley Mathews.  He was married to Emiliana Calolang for 25 years. Thomas served in the Navy for 21 years, enlisting in 1970 and retiring in September 1991 as an Aviation Mechanic Mate.  He then went to DeVry College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in February 1995.  He worked for Marion X-Ray Company before retiring in 2009.  Thomas enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs & the Boston Redsox, and was an avid NASCAR fan.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.   He is survived by his wife Emiliana; daughter, Ava Marie Vallor; daughter, Anna Marie Ryland; son, George Robert Mathews II; two sisters, Barbara Perez & Debra Meusburger; two brothers, Tracy Mathews & Gary Mathews; and six grandchildren: Kiana Vallor, Franky Vallor, Caiden Ryland, Devin Mathews, Landon Ryland, and Thomas Robert Mathews II.
