Thomas V. King


Thomas Vance King, 74, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has gone to be with the Lord on Saturday August 12, 2017. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday August 18, 2017 at Lee’s Summit Baptist Temple, 2616 N.W. Chipman Road, Lee’s Summit, MO. A funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. also at the church. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, MO. In lieu of flowers please send contributions to John Knox Hospice.

Tom was born to Thomas and Alice (Amos) King on February 14, 1943 in Keiser, AR. He married Marilyn Louise (Lowe) King on June 15, 1962. Tom went to work at Auto Parts & Color for Bill Ward, 3 months later he was a counterparts man and manager. He then opened his own auto parts store and ran it for 15 years. He sold it and retired then went to work for Frank and Bob’s Garage in Westport as a service writer for 6 years. Quitting that, he went to work for A.P.A. as a salesman and later was bought out by Carquest as a salesman for 10 years before retiring in January of 2007. He enjoyed playing cards with his family, hunting, golfing and watching the Chiefs. He was a very special man and was loved by all. He will be sadly missed.

Tom’s survivors include his wife, Marilyn King of the home; 2 children, Thomas D. King and Brenda D. Harris (Brad); 8 grandchildren, Amber, Nicole, Crystal, Dylan, Steven, Janelle, Michael, Sarah; and 24 great-grandchildren.
