Toni Marie Rogers, 23, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 in Oak Grove, MO. Toni was born July 25, 1990 in Kansas City, MO, to Sherrie Poindexter-Rogers and James Rogers. Toni was a lifelong resident of Oak Grove and graduated from Oak Grove Schools. Toni suffered from type 1 diabetes and the many complications thereof. She endured numerous medical procedures and spent too much of her life in hospitals. But through it all she endured everything with a remarkable spirit and strength. She enjoyed friends and family, shopping, music and experiencing as many new things as her illness would allow. She had a distinctive bond with her Sophia.
Toni is survived by her parents, Sherrie Poindexter-Rogers (Anthony) of Oak Grove and James Rogers (Petra) of Blue Springs, MO; grandparents, Greg & Diana Kessler of Lee’s Summit, MO, Mary Jan Bunyar of Golden, MO, and Jimmie & Betty Rogers of Golden; great-grandparents, Sarah Calvert of Oak Grove and Treva Rogers of Golden; uncles, Derek Poindexter (Kim) of Blue Springs and Michael Rogers (Michele) of Oak Grove; cousin, Caitlyn Poindexter of Blue Springs; and extended sister, Michelle McCluskey of Yukon, OK.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12th at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 400 SE 14th Street, Oak Grove, MO 64075. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
