  1. I am so sorry to hear of Troy’s passing. I first met Troy hanging out at the library, I gave Troy a photo of the great movie star Daniel Day-Lewis and told Troy he could be a double. Troy was so interesting and very respectful to me always. I will miss our many visits.

  2. Dear Troy,

I have taken almost 2 years to digest the news of your passing. I write this for mainly myself to let out what needs to be said. We were good friends while we attended Washington University in St Louis together. You were an extremely intelligent and talented young man. You had a bright future. That terrible truck crash around Thanksgiving a couple decades ago changed everything. The closed head injury and resulting brain damage never repaired itself and I lost the old Troy twenty some years ago.

I made friends with the new Troy. Granted out friendship was less rooted and we had different beliefs, but I always tried to support you in your beliefs. I watched and talked to you as you tried to remake your life in St Louis. That didn’t work out as planned and you moved back to the Blue Springs area. We talked every couple of years and you always had a positive outlook. GOD bless your soul for pushing through. I offered you employment several times and each time you said: “God hasn’t shown me that job to be on my journey”. So you stayed in the Blue Springs area and constantly read at the library.

In October, 2022 late in the evening I got a call from Michelle. She told me you had passed. I already knew what the message would be when I saw who was calling and the time they were calling. I didn’t want to answer the phone in hope that it would stave off the awful message. I now have 7 kids and a different life. Having lost a son, I hope that maybe you and John will meet if there is an other side.

Ill miss you and our St Louis adventures forever, Troy. Rest in the peace that you never found on this earth. I love you and always will.

    Your Friend

    Garrity Repta
