Violet Dorothy Haugmo, 91, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10th at New Salem Funeral Home, Independence; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence. The family will greet visitors from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Violet was born September 9, 1926 in Madison, South Dakota, the daughter of Adolf and Ida (Laun) Kruse. She married Peter Haugmo on June 12, 1951 and eventually relocated to Kansas City area, settling in the Jennings Road neighborhood. Violet was a member of the United Methodist Church, and loved sewing, puzzles, gardening, bird watching, and square dancing. Most of all, she loved her family and attending functions with her grandchildren.
Violet is survived by her four children: Linda Andes (Wayne) of Independence, Susan Hubbard (Randy) of Lawson, MO, James Haugmo (Lori) of Independence, and Peggy Jenkins of Independence; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one cousin, Al Fuller; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister Ella Roling.
