Walter D. Johnson


Walter Douglas “Doug” Johnson, age 73, of Exeter, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012.

He was born August 7, 1938, in Independence, Missouri, the son of Walter and Charlotte (Campbell) Johnson. On July 12, 2008, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Janis Vollenweider, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Brian Johnson and his wife, Kathy of Franktown, Colorado; one daughter, Julie Gregory and her husband, Jon of Grand Junction, Colorado; one sister, Lois Morrison and her husband, Ray of Lakewood, Missouri; two grandchildren, Cole and Anna Johnson; several nieces, nephews and cousins, step children, step grandchildren and Jan’s mother Ruth Vollenweider.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, William and Gerald Johnson.

Doug as most people knew him grew up in Oak Grove, Missouri, where he graduated in 1960, with a Bachelor of Agriculture Degree. He served in the United States Army. For several years he was employed for Proctor and Gamble in Cleveland, Ohio and in sales and marketing in Kansas City.MP. Doug was an avid sports fan and enjoyed his MIZZOU Tigers, farming and growing trees. He loved his family and friends dearly and was a wonderful friend, father, and husband. Four years ago he moved Oak Grove, Missouri a member of the First Baptist Church in Oak Grove and had attended Cassville United Church.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 22, 2012, with Memorial service following at 3:00 in the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.
