
Wendell (Windy) Spease, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 25th, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born on December 12th, 1929, in Wisconsin, Windy was the son of the late David and Elizabeth (Benoy) Spease. Growing up, Windy was surrounded by many brothers and sisters. Windy answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Army, dedicating his efforts until 1952. After his military service, Windy embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver. He lived most of his life in Independence, MO.
Windy was predeceased by his wife, Darlene Wollenberg, with whom he shared many years with. He was also preceded in death by his parents David and Elizabeth, and his siblings. He leaves behind his children; sons David Spease (Lynn) and Jerry Stevenson (Mary). Along with his daughter Mary Dowell (Ronny). Windy was also blessed with four grandchildren; Angie, Randy, Tracy and Sesly, along with many great-grandchildren.
Windy’s life will be honored with a final resting place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
