William I. Fligg


William (Bill) Irving Fligg 79 of Grain Valley, Mo passed away Monday, October 25, 2021. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday November 2nd at 10 am at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley Mo: burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday November 1st at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to VCP (Veteran Community Project.)

Bill was born November 28, 1941, in Independence, Mo to Myron A and Delores G Fligg.

He attended school in Independence, MO graduating from William Chrisman HS, he attended William Jewell College and received his master’s degree from Central MO State.

He served in the U.S. Air Force where he was trained to be a “AFTK”, receiving an honorable discharge.

In 1969 he married Judith “Judy” Noell and to this union the three greatest accomplishments of his life were born. Brent, Dawn, and Jaime. 

Bill was the face of Englewood Cleaners in Independence and Grain Valley 

Mo. along with his wife Judy, up until their retirement in 2013. Among his many achievements he served on the Grain Valley School Board for 9 years (Never letting his kids get away with anything.) He also helped purchased the one of the first tiny houses, to house homeless veterans, with the VCP Project dedicated in memory of Douglas Allen with his sister-in-law Gloria. He was the member of the Elks Lodge in Blue Springs and was also member of American Legion Post 379 in Oak Grove.

His greatest enjoyments late in life was sitting on the porch drinking wine and watching his hummingbirds with his friend and companion Debbie Rockers

He was proceeded in death by his wife Judy in 2014, his parents and his second loving mother Marie. He is survived by his children Brent (Julie) Fligg, Dawn (Chad) Carnahan, Jaime (George) Sinn, and grandchildren, in which he was extremely proud of, Autumn, Jacob, Tom, Ben, Colby and sister Summer. Brother Michael Fligg (Pat), sister-in-law Gloria Allen, brother-in-law Gene Noell (Sheila) Cousins Kenneth Fligg, Nancy Hampton, and Kathryn Lee, and as well many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

  1. Fellow Fiji initiate, Bill had a fabulous sense of humor. Sometimes it was a bit sharp. A good guy doing good work, he will be missed.

  2. Bill was a wonderful man. He did a lot for children through Boy Scouts. I always enjoyed working with him. He will be greatly missed.

  3. Just heard this sad news. Bill was my first boss out of college at American Walnut (late 70s and early 80s). He was the best through thick and thin.
