William “Bill” R. Williamson, Jr., of Grain Valley, MO, passed away at the age of 82 on April 3, 2015 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, MO.  Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday April 7, 2015 at Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, MO 64029.   Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the funeral home.  Burial will immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence, MO.

Bill was born on February 8, 1933 to William Russell and Ida Pearl Williamson in Kansas City, MO.  William graduated from Northeast Senior High School in 1951.  After high school Bill studied at CMSU in Warrensburg, MO and worked for Commerce Bank before he enlisted in the Army in June 1953.  William served in the Army until May 1956 when he was honorably discharged as a Specialist 2.  Upon discharge from the Army he took a position with Kelly Springfield Tire Company.  There he met a lovely lady by the name of Genevieve Jenkins.  They began a short courtship that concluded with the couple marrying on April 20, 1957.  To this union Bill and Ginny were blessed with two wonderful children.  After he worked as an accountant at different companies for the next 27 years Bill and Ginny decided to open their own accounting practice in June 1984 where they worked together for 24 years until they retired in June 2008.  Bill was a founding member of Blue Springs Christian Church where he attended and served for over 30 years.  During those 30 years he served as overseer, treasurer and greeter at different times.  On most Sunday mornings Bill could be found with a cup of coffee near the church’s front door socializing with his many church friends and welcoming newcomers.  He was always a positive man who could find the good in any situation.  His grandchildren always enjoyed visiting him so that he could teach them new corny jokes and tickle them until they were blue in the face.  As they got older he enjoyed teaching them how to fish and watching them in their many school activities, sports and Boy Scout functions.  Bill’s wife of 55 years, Ginny; both his parents and his infant daughter, Lori Elaine, preceded him in death.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Janelle Kay Atchison & husband Eric, of Greenwood, MO; son William Russell Williamson III & wife Shalena of Murrieta, CA; four grandsons, Talon Russell Williamson, Lane Charles Williamson, Charles “Cole” Atchison, and Evan William Atchison; and sisters Marilyn Ganote and Karilyn Grove both from Independence, MO.
