Wilma Doloris Waisner, age 87, of Independence, Missouri peacefully passed away in her home on October 24, 2016.
Before retirement, Wilma managed the kitchen at Elm Grove elementary school in the Fort Osage School District. She cooked meals for generations of schoolchildren, working there for 25 years.
In her community, Wilma was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri, and a long-time member of TOPS, chapter 100, in Independence, Missouri.
Wilma will be remembered as a most loving mother and grandmother, who placed her faith and her family above all else, including herself. Throughout her life, she brought joy to others not only with her excellent cooking, her creative talents in crochet, quilting, and painting, but simply by being a generous soul. When Wilma loved someone, that individual knew they were loved, and that may be the greatest of her gifts.
She is survived by her children, Glenda Barker, Michael Waisner, Kenneth Waisner, David Waisner, and Phillip Waisner, as well as 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceeded in death by her husband, Newell Waisner; her parents John and Martha Otten; her brother Frank Otten; and her sister Jewell (Tiny) Nobles.
