Annie was born on October 1, 1933, in Cowgill, Missouri, to Robert and Robbie (Harber) Lee. She was raised in Polo and Cowgill before moving to Kansas City in the 1940s. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Nelson; they eloped on October 11, 1949, and welcomed four children. Their deep love for one another remained steadfast through every season of life.
After dedicating her early married years to her home and family, Annie worked as a housekeeper at the Medical Center of Independence and briefly at Centerpoint Hospital. She was a devoted mother and a grandmother who cherished each of her grandchildren. Her life was truly complete when she became a great-grandmother, and she always ensured her family was well-cared for.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, sons, Bob and Larry.
She is survived by her children, David (Tracy) Nelson and Pamela (Matt) Jackson; her grandchildren, William Nelson, Jessica Nelson, Taryn (Eujean) Lohnes, Devin (Tina) Nelson, Chelsea (Jake) Shackleford, Mathew (Kate) Olson, and Scott (Megan) Olson; 13 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Lulu.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the National Heart Association.
