Billie A. Midgette


Billie Allen Midgette was born to Garland K. Midgette and Lether Pearl Midgette on November 27, 1939, in Maysville, NC.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Melony Midgette and son Jamey Dean Midgette. He is survived by his wife Lynn Midgette of Nacogdoches, TX, brother Roger Midgette and wife Martha of Accokeek, MD, three sons Michael Allen Midgette and wife, Kathryn of Minot, ND, Tracy Lee Midgette of Minneapolis MN and Monty Garland Midgette and wife Stephanie of Mena, AR.  Two daughters Andrea Lynn Heim and husband Russell of Independence, MO and Tammy Lynn Blank and husband Damon of Nacogdoches, TX.  Five granddaughters and ten grandsons and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bill grew up in Newport News Virginia and after graduating high school he served in the United States Airforce. He later attended and graduated from Indian Hills Technical School in Ottumwa, IA with an Associate of Arts in Computer Science. He also attended Mary University in Bismarck, ND and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was trained in computer programming and excelled in mastering new technologies. He was instrumental in converting electric cooperatives to computer systems in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He spent most of his career using his many talents in the Rural Utilities Service at cooperatives in North Dakota and Pennsylvania. He spent three years in Dhaka Bangladesh doing a computer needs analysis and financial planning for National Rural Electric Cooperative Association to develop rural electrification for third world countries. After retirement he enjoyed a second career as a property manager in northern Virginia. Bill accomplished so many things in his life, he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He treated all his children as his own and loved them wholeheartedly. He had a heart of gold that was revealed through the love for his children, family and care for those in need. He enjoyed golfing, dancing and playing the guitar. He had a great love of music, enjoyed singing and was gifted with the most beautiful voice. He recorded a record while overseas in Bangladesh.

He passed from this life on February 1, 2022, in Kansas City, MO. His memorial service and visitation will be held at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home 1823 N Blue Mills Rd, Independence, Missouri 64058 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm Friday, February 4, 2022.
