Carol M. Mitchell


Carol Marlene Mitchell, 77, of Independence, Missouri went home to be with her Lord, just as she had longed to do, on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, Missouri; burial following in Salem Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

She was born on December 20, 1947 in Clinton, Missouri to Cecil and Muriel (Ingram) Banning. She found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—spending time with friends and loved ones, listening to good music, watching classic films, and sharing a meal over a fresh cup of coffee. Never one to want much, Carol’s heart was full with faith, love, and the warmth of companionship.  She was a breath of fresh air to the world.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Victor and Frances Mitchell; brother, Mike; and sister, Anita.

She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughters: Christina (Christopher) Carpenter, and Reana (Gregory) Brown; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

  1. Dale Christy Reana I am so sorry to hear the passing of Carol she was such a sweet lady I always enjoyed spending time at your house when I was younger I have great memories please accept my deepest sympathy. Sending lots of prayers and thoughts in this difficult time 🫂🙏

  2. Carol was such a beautiful soul and I am better for having known her, and being loved by her. I will miss my friend , but, will remember all the happy days spent together with all our families. Godspeed my beautiful Carol, will see you again with no more pain or suffering.

  6. Carol was a wonderful lady. My son Dylan loved her very much and considered her a grandma. She will be deeply missed by both of us. My thoughts and prayers are with Dale, Reana and Christy. May the memories of how great of a lady she was comfort you during this time. I know she is no longer in any pain and rejoicing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
