Donald Browett


Donald “Don” Browett, 80, of Independence, MO died at home, on Friday, March 22nd, 2024.

Don was born June 10, 1943 in Alexandria, VA to Andy and Margaret Browett. He was the eldest of three, Don, Bill, and Janet.

Don is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Evelyn “Sudie” Browett, children Deana Neely and Scott Browett, and younger brother Bill Browett.

Don was a 1962 graduate of Raytown High and completed his A&P mechanic certificate in 1964. He served in the Air Force Reserves as mechanic on the C124 flight line at Richard’s Gebaur Air Force Base. Don, like his father, was compelled by his love of airplanes and took much pride in his career at TWA where he retired in 1999 after 35 years. Don was a member of the Airline History Museum of Kansas City where he took part in the restoration of the Constellation and DC-3 airplanes. He also took part in the TWA team that restored the Northrop Alfa, housed at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington D.C.

Don is survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. Don will be remembered by his family and friends for having a passion for aviation and a work ethic that was second to none. The family and friends of Don will be hosting a Celebration of Life in May – date to be determined.
