Edward F. Miller


Edward Franklin Miller, 85 of Independence, MO, passed away June 17, 2019.  Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10th at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.

Ed was born on September 2, 1933 in Dover, Missouri, to Ryland T. and Francis M. Miller of Mayview, MO.  He graduated from Mayview High School in 1951 and received a BA from Columbia College.  Ed’s first employment was KC Terminal Railway KC for 8 1/2 years.  He was then employed by Army National Guard from 1960- 1986.  Ed attended active duty schools for nine trips with a total of 27 months in the Army.  He retired in 1986 as a CW4 and stayed in retired reserve from 1986 – 1993.  Ed was married to JoAnn Boles in 1954 until her death in 2008.

Ed had one daughter, Cheryl Ann Wasserman; grandson, Brian E Lambrecht; and great-granddaughter, Madison L Wasserman.  He lived in Independence most of his life.  He was a member of Mason Post 625, American Legion 21, and Araet Shriners KC. Ed currently attended Lees Summit Bible Church.  He loved to help others and donate his time. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling in his RV.

  1. We are so sad to hear that Eddie is gone. We are also sad that we have not kept close contact in recent years. Back in the day, we had good times with your Dad and your wonderful mom, JoAnn, during the years that Ed and I were in the Guard together. Thirteen years in all. Cheryl, our thoughts are with you during this sad time. I know he is happy to be back with the love of his life, and we pray for you during these tough days.
