Edward Schieber


Edward Schieber, 87, of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2022.  A mass celebrating his life will be Saturday, January 22, 2022 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Oak Grove.  Family will greet friends from 10:00am until mass begins at 11:00am.

Ed was born October 19, 1934 in Conception, MO to Lawrence and Eleanor (Lager) Schieber.  He attended Conception Seminary and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1952.  He proudly served in the United States Army before attending college. On May 7, 1960 he married the love of his life, JoAnn (Wolfer) Schieber.  He worked as a computer programmer at AT&T for thirty years before retiring in 1989.  In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and training for marathons. One of his greatest memories was running the New York Marathon with his great friend Onnie Tucker. Ed was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his family.  He was an avid sports fan who loved the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He was a life-long member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had an amazing faith and loved the Lord.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; his wife JoAnn; his son Mark; and one sister, Bea Rogers.

Survivors include his loving daughters; Jenny Mitchell of Shawnee, KS; Mary (Ricky) Kilburn of Grain Valley, MO; Lori (Rob) Kilburn of Grain Valley, MO.  Six granddaughters; Heather (Steve) Richberg, Brandy Mitchell, Courtney (Joseph) Medearis, Morgan (Alex) Huttinger, Makenna Kilburn and Kasey Kilburn. Two great-grandsons, Steven and Jaden Richberg; several brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Ed was loved and will be   missed by all.
