Evelyn V. Johnston, 86, of Independence, Missouri passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Tri-City Baptist Church, Blue Springs, Missouri. A graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m. in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, Missouri. 

Evelyn was born April 25, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland to Rev. Charles and Bernice (Flester) Stilson. She enjoyed many hobbies. She liked collecting things, especially collecting elephants. Evelyn liked taking pictures and organizing her picture albums. She always enjoyed nature and especially the beautiful flowers. Evelyn was social and liked being around people. She was always ready to take a trip. One of her favorites was to Assateague Island and seeing the miniature horses. Evelyn was a member of Bremen Baptist Church in Bremen, Indiana and later attended Tri-City Baptist Church in Blue Springs, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Barnes; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Evelyn is survived by son, William (Emma) Barnes of Michigan; daughter, Evelyn  (Mike) Lee of Missouri; 2 granddaughters in Missouri; 2 grandsons in Michigan; 1 grandson in Pennsylvania; and 1 great-granddaughter in Missouri.
