James M. Lower


James Micheal “Mike” Lower, age 65, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away on September 15, 2021 surrounded by family after fighting hard against leukemia.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday immediately preceding the funeral. Cremation to follow services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or KU Medical Center Bone Marrow Transplant Program.

Mike was born on July 10, 1956 to Wayne and Mary Jo (Rogers) Lower. He was a retired audio communications service technician. Mike loved and was very proud of his family and it was evident how much he enjoyed them. He always loved music, dancing and a good time. He was proud of his music collection and his 1974 Monte Carlo.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Laura; son Austin Lower; daughter and son-in-law Staci and Parker Logan; granddaughters Landrie and Audrie Logan; mother Mary Jo Lower; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Karen Lower and family; sister Patty Waddle and family; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Grant and Maggi James and family, and many extended family members and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Wayne and sister Kathy.

  7. Mike was a good friend in school. We had many fun times. I lost contact with mike when I moved to southern Missouri but the memories will always make me smile. RIP my friend.
