James W. Hodges, 79, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away December 17, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. December 21st at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO; burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Missouri Department of Conservation, 12405 SE Ranson Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 64082.
Jim was born August 7, 1935, in Independence, Missouri, the son of John William and Alma Pearl (Emery) Hodges. He served in the U.S. Navy. Jim married Doris A. Schoening in February 8, 1969. He worked at Lake City for 32 years. Jim was an avid hunter & fisherman, and enjoyed traveling to Bennett Springs for trout fishing. He also loved watching his grandchildren play sports.
Jim was preceded in death by two brothers: Bobby & Buster Hodges; and three sisters: Shirley, Beverly, & Donna.
His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Doris Hodges of the home; one daughter, Kristy & Tom Morgason of Bates City, MO; one son, John & Teresa Hodges of Oak Grove; four grandchildren: Kodie Morgason, Brandon Morgason, Payton Hodges, & Hailee Hodges; one sister, Betty Wyatt of Forsythe, MO; and one brother, Larry Hodges of Blue Springs, MO.
