Jefferson “Brick” Davis, 51, of Kansas City, Missouri, died Monday, July 10, 2023. A brief graveside committal of Brick’s ashes will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 16, at Memorial Park Cemetery. A grave marker memorializing both Brick and his Mom, Janet B. Davis, will be installed. Note: there will be no formal service, and the site is on a steep hill. Please wear Chiefs gear and walking shoes. Memorial Park is located at 3223 N 18th St, Kansas City, Kansas.
Brick was born May 23, 1972, to William Joseph “Bill” Davis and Janet B. Davis (Larson). He grew up in the Raytown, Missouri, area where he built life-long friendships with neighborhood kids and excelled in a wide variety of Raytown Little League sports. He was a scrappy little catcher behind home plate and also participated in high school wrestling. Brick especially enjoyed snow skiing and spending time with his Colorado cousins and friends in the great outdoors, rafting, canoeing, golfing, camping, and talking smack about the Chiefs’ next opponent — especially the Denver Broncos. Above all, Brick had a huge heart. He was generous, funny and loved by many.
Brick was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his sister, Janelle Davis (Jim Mosby) and his Colorado cousins Allan Chado, Rob Chado and Tegner Nickelson.
Brick ‘s was a death of despair following decades of addiction to alcohol and other substances. Our family thanks all who supported him. To honor Brick and help others, please consider a donation to Welcome House. Welcome House is a residential, not-for-profit, sober living recovery community dedicated to helping men live a healthy and productive life in sobriety. Brick thrived while living at Welcome House and made many good friends in the recovery community. Thanks guys. You know who you are.

2 Sep 2023Janelle,
I am so sorry to hear about Brick’s passing, and I know it’s been a rough time for you after losing your mother, too. My deepest sympathy to you. I have fond memories of Brick from the time I spent there on 52nd Street, playing with Brick and Steve Crosby and the Ruby brothers. We had a lot of good times in the hood! I also have fond memories of Brick as the scrappy catcher you mentioned. We were both little dudes, so shared that competitive edge/need to go all out to try to hang with the bigger kids growing up. In high school Brick was an entertaining friend and it was great to see him at parties or just hanging out (at the Raytown McDonald’s mostly), because we always had that St. B’s area connection. I know he was a great friend to Steve over the years, and while I hadn’t seen him for years, I was sad to hear about his passing and I’m sorry to hear of his struggles. I will be out of town when you’re having the service or I would have been there to pay my respects. I’ll pour a little out for the homie Brick, and I will always remember the fun times we had. Take care of yourself and try to remember the good times with him and your dear sweet mother.

2 Sep 2023I met Brick at Welcome House and we soon became very good friends. Without a doubt one of the best friends I ever had. He was a good man with a good heart and I’ll miss him dearly.

2 Sep 2023Such a great guy and good friend. I met Brick at the Welcome House, we were roommates for a brief time. We both eventually left, went our separate ways.
Three years later I returned to the Welcome House, finding myself in need of their services once again.
When I walked in the front door, there was Brick to greet me, having returned himself just one week before.
Aside from our heights, we had a lot in common. We had both been in the car business for a couple of decades. We both had lived in Colorado. We had the same sense of humor, and would crack each other up.
He will be missed by many, he probably had no idea by how many lives he had touched. R.I.P. Brick

4 Sep 2023While at the Welcome House, Brick and some other men helped me move in 2018. They did a great job and I will be forever grateful to them. Brick also changed the tail-light on my car for me. That might seem like no big deal for some, but for a single lady living on her own, that meant the world to me. Thank you, Brick for being such a great person. RIP my friend.
