Kathleen Rose Young, 73, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, with visitation from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, followed by graveside service at 3:30 p.m. in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be may to the American Cancer Society.
Kathleen was born June 5, 1953, in Lexington, Missouri, the daughter of John Lee and Rosemary (Schreiner) Dobson. Throughout her career, she was a legal secretary for several major law firms and a secretary for many other types of businesses. Kathleen was a devout believer in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and attended First Baptist Church in Oak Grove and Raytown. She enjoyed going out to eat and to the movies, playing tennis, listening to music – especially the Bee Gees, gardening with Jim, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Kathleen’s survivors include her husband, James Young of the home; three brothers: John Dobson (Linda) of Higginsville, MO, Mark Dobson (Jeanette) of Lexington, MO, and David Dobson (Amy) of Lexington, MO; one sister, Susan Emery (Alvin) of Lexington, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Schriefer.
