Kay Pinkley (Hicks), age 81 of Independence, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in Lees Summit, Missouri.

Born on May 3, 1944, at Dry Ridge in Camden County Missouri, Kay was the daughter of Roma and Edith Hicks of Tunas, Missouri. She grew up in a large family that fostered a deep sense of connection—a value she carried throughout her life.

Kay shared 63 years of devoted marriage with her husband, Phillip Pinkley. Together they raised a close-knit family and built a legacy grounded in love. She was a beloved mother to Kelly Skinner and her husband Brad of Lone Jack; Phillip Pinkley Jr. and his wife Brenda of Independence; and Kimberly Gray and her husband Jason of Liberty.

Her life was enriched by her grandchildren: Samantha Skinner; Travis Pinkley and his wife Catherine; Ryan Skinner and his wife Laurel; Jordan Pinkley and Rachel; Cameron Skinner and his wife Taylor; Connor and Jesse Gray. Kay also found great joy in her great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Mack, Sadie, Parker, Hayden, Adeline, Theo, and Marshall.

She is fondly remembered by her siblings: sisters Christina Ware, Joyce Williams, and Janiece Duff. Brothers David Hicks and Ronald Hicks. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Katherine Fullerton; and brothers Wallace Hicks, Danny Hick, and brothers-in-law Bill Ware, Lawrence Williams and Bruce Duff.

Kay found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to travel, cook for her family—her kitchen often filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals. She was known for her delicious pies. Time at the lake brought her peace, and she expressed her creativity through crafts she lovingly shared with others. She enjoyed watching her great grandchildren participate in activities.

Above all else, Kay’s life was defined by her enduring love for family. Her presence brought comfort and strength to those around her. May her memory bring peace to all who were touched by her life.
