Lavella J. Hon


Lavella Jean (Bartz) Hon, 84, of Odessa, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.  Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13th at the Oak Grove Seventh Day Adventist Church.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Seventh Day Adventist Community Service Fund.

Jean was born January 29, 1936 in Bates County, Missouri, the daughter of Pete and Emma (Terry) Bartz.  She attended school in Butler, MO, and grew into an amazing young woman.  She then went to work at the Butler Hospital and soon met her soulmate.  Jean and Bobby Hon were married on August 12, 1968.  They were active in Boy Scouts with generational Eagle Scouts.   Jean was an avid arrowhead hunter, practicing archaeology and acquiring a beautiful collection over the years.  She later would help operate Hon Painting Co. being at job sites and then going on to doing the business side.  Jean and Bobby enjoyed many years of traveling and camping.  A lot of their time was spent at the Truman Lake Warsaw area.  They even enjoyed short road trips to just about anywhere.  Jean was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and loved helping out in her community as much as she could. Helping others always put a smile on her face.

Jean’s survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bobby Hon; her son, Danny; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law; and two sons, Bobby Joe and Jamie Jay.
