Leonard Leslie Allen, 91, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, MO. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12th in Highland Cemetery in Hamilton, MO.
Leonard was born July 26, 1932, in Braymer, Missouri, the son of William and Lillian (Smith) Allen. He was a very proud Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Leonard loved Nascar and enjoyed bowling in leagues for many years. He volunteered for the Oak Grove Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels, and for the Kingsville Schools. Leonard was very handy and restored and remodeled their homes over the years. He loved his family, friends, and neighbors, and was very devoted to his cats.
Leonard’s survivors include two daughters, Velma Reade (Richard) of Odessa, MO, and Teresa Stephens (Scott) of Grain Valley; three grandchildren: Mike Reade, Jennifer Backlund, and Clayton Stephens; and three great-grandchildren: Austin Reade, Kinley Backlund, and Taryn Backlund. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mavis, in 2021, and his parents.
