Margaret C. Madsen


Margaret “Mitzi” Cecilia Madsen, 87, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  The family will receive friends on Monday, May 1st from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, MO.  Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2nd at the Church of Santa Fe Parish in Buckner, MO; burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Oak Grove, MO.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Franciscans of the Church of Santa Fe.

Margaret was born August 23, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri, the oldest daughter of George and Margaret (Guillaume) DiiBon.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  She was also a top sales representative for Merri-Mac Home Toys and Gifts.  Margaret was a member of the Church of Santa Fe Parish in Buckner, where she taught CCD classes for 30 years, was a member of the Alter and Rosary Society, and a member of the Secular Franciscans Order.  Margaret was PTA President at different times for the Fort Osage School District and a nurse’s aide for the Fort Osage School District.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening, and was a dedicated Royals fan.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, William H. Madsen; two children, William and Jeannie Madsen; her parents; sisters, Barbra Hochstetter and Katherine Haviland; and brothers, George, William, and Thomas DiiBon.

Her survivors include four children: Michael Madsen, Joy Schulte (Edward), Mark Madsen (Susan), and David Madsen (Diane); twelve grandchildren: Margaret Smith, Anna Schulte, Joymarie Henbree, Brian Schulte, William Schulte, Stephanie Madsen, Jennifer Madsen, John Powell, Russell Powell, Philip Powell, David “DJ” Madsen, and Daniel Madsen; twelve great-grandchildren: Bailey, Chloe, Roman, Bruce, Aedan, Christopher, Alissa, Mahayla, Maria, Ryden, DaKota, and Gracie; two great-great-grandchildren, Brandt and Atticus; two sisters, Patricia Plack and Terry Petree; three brothers, Robert, Edward, and John DiiBon; and many nieces and nephews.

  1. I’ll always remember the fun times I had as a kid at Aunt Mitzi’s farm and the awesome family Christmas parties she hosted. Rest easy Aunt Mitzi. You are already missed.
