Mary Lou Baxter


Mary Lou Baxter, 93, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2026, at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Missouri, with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Catholic Church of the Santa Fe in Buckner or the Buckner Community Services League.

Mary was born on May 22, 1932, in Buckner, Missouri, to Clarence and Viola Harra. She was known for her many talents, especially as an excellent cook and skilled seamstress. In her younger years, Mary worked for Hallmark before dedicating herself fully to raising her family and helping on the farm, a role she embraced with love and devotion. Mary was an active member of the Church of the Santa Fe in Buckner, as well as organizations including Busy Bee, the Red Hat Society, and T.O.P.S. She cherished her community and the friendships she built throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ralph Baxter, in 2020; and her brother, J.W. Harra.

Mary is survived by her loving family: her daughter, Mary Susan Jenkins (Rocky) of Grain Valley; her son, Jeffery Baxter (Tammy) of Grain Valley; three grandchildren, Scott Bundren (Nikki) of Lee’s Summit, Derek Turner of Grain Valley, and Susanna Dillinger (John) of Grain Valley; six great-grandchildren, Sam, Reid, Chris, Kylee, Jameson, and Jace; one great-great-grandchild, Kayden; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary will be remembered for her warmth, dedication to her family, and the simple joys she brought to those around her.
