Myron L. McMullen Sr.


Myron Leroy McMullen Sr., 82, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14th at Royer Funeral Home in Blue Springs.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Myron was born on July 11, 1937 (error on birth certificate by doctor stating birth on July 12) in Cumberland, IA, the 6th son of William Eugene and Mary Eblen and the 8th of 13 children. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1954 and retired in 1974. He served in Vietnam in 1968, the same year 3 other McMullen brothers served. “Mom can worry for 4 years or worry 1. We’ll stay”.  He married Cynthia Varner in 1970 whom he met while rescuing her from the top of a 5-drawer file cabinet in his office at Richards-Gebaur AFB MO. In 1996 he became a Mail Analyst for President Bill Clinton, the only person from the state of Iowa on his staff. Employed as assistant manager of the Blue Springs, Western Auto Store during early 1990’s. He was a member of AMVETS, VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shrine.

His survivors include his children, Thomas McMullen of Oklahoma City, OK, Myron McMullen Jr. of Omaha, NE and Tonja McMullen Sifton of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Michael McMullen of Omaho, Kira McMullen of Indianapolis, IN, Khristina Lowry of Belton, MO and Heather Sifton of Blue Springs; great-grandchildren, Samantha Sifton of Belton, Kristopher Lowry of Belton, Jordan Lowry of Belton, Louis Acuna of Blue Springs and Gavin Panter of Blue Springs; 4 brothers, Thomas, Frank, Steve and Bob; 3 sisters, Irene, Sarah (Sally) and Deadra (Dee); and a plethora of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
