Paul Edward Torpey, 54, of Independence, Missouri, died on Sunday, May 31, 2020. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 North Liberty Street, Independence, MO 64050, with Father Matthew Bartulica presiding. A celebration of Paul’s life will follow the service at the Torpey home, 821 East Manor, Independence, MO 64055. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Paul was born on July 22, 1965 in Hartford, Connecticut, to George and Bernadette (Doyle) Torpey. He attended Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut. Paul was a car salesman for over 30 years. He loved music and video games, and always lived his life to the fullest. Paul was a loyal, generous, and devoted friend, brother, and son and a very proud uncle. He lived life on his own terms, but never judged anyone for the way they lived theirs.
Paul is survived by his parents, George and Bernadette Torpey of Independence; two brothers, Edward (Patty) Torpey and Noel (Julie) Torpey of Independence; two nieces, Grace and Talia; three nephews, Hayden, Dawson, and P.J; and his loving family members in Ireland, who were always close to his heart.
