R. Shannon Donnell

Richard Shannon Donnell, 49, of Lowry City, MO chose to drop dead on Tuesday July 11, 2023 in Dumas, TX, leaving his entire family shaking their heads and wanting to kick him in the shins for his last shenanigan of dying out of state.

He was born October 16, 1973, in Marshall, MO, to his delightful mother, Ruby (Luebbert) Parson.  He was blessed with two fabulous sisters: Heidi (Jon) Wolfe of Webb City, MO and his favorite, Victoria Edds of Chillicothe, MO.  They blessed him with four amazing nieces and a great nephew: Carly Ash and Leo Bennett of Webb City, Londin Edds of Liberty, Jaydin Edds of Lackland AFB Texas, and Adi Edds of Chillicothe.

Shannon blessed his entire family with the births of three children: Lane Donnell of Lowry City, Diamond Donnell of Dodge City, KS, and Camron Donnell of Lawton, OK.  He married April James in July of 2009, and with that union he gained Shawna (Kandon) Selby of Eldorado Springs, MO.

The joys of his life were his three grandkids, Kyson & Kynsley of Eldorado Springs, and Christopher of Dodge City, KS.

He left behind his entire family including step-dad Mike Parson, three step-brothers and their families, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends, new and old.  He was greeted by David Gernold and Roxanne Stavenau when he left his body.  He loved his dogs Chucky, Rose, Huckleberry, Yogi, and Wendy.  He was preceded in death by 3 fur-babies:  Sugar, Chaos, & Skippy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Contributions in his memory may be made to Vernon County Cancer Relief or Vernon County Humane Society.

Written by his favorite sister.

  1. I mean really, how inconsiderate of him to pop off like that without even the grace to do so close to family. *shakes head*

In all seriousness though, I am very sad to hear of his passing. We hadn’t talked in quite a while, but I would think on him sometimes. I hope that the rest of his family is doing as well as they can during this time, and I will be sending good thoughts their way. He will be missed.

  2. Shannon grew up with our oldest two daughters. He has always been a special guy to our family. He proved himself a true friend the night he saved our second daughter when she had a car accident, in the middle of one of the coldest nights in history. We are sorry to hear of his passing but know, from the words of his family, his legacy lives on. Hugs and prayers to all.

  3. Damn, weren’t we just kids at twin oaks just the other day???

  4. I am truly in dismay. He will be missed. Sending prayers to his family.

  5. Ruby, Heidi, and Victoria I am in shock to hear of Shannon’s passing may the Lord comfort you in this time of sorrow.
