Richard “Rick” W. Harris, Sr.


Richard Wayne Harris Sr., 68, of Mapleton, Kansas, passed away on July 25, 2026, at his home in Grain Valley, Missouri.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Rick was born on May 26, 1958, in Abilene, Texas, to Don and Rose Harris. As a child his family traveled extensively through the US Airforce, living in places including Arizona, Florida, South Carolina, Texas and Japan before eventually settling in the Kansas City area. Rick dedicated more than 40 years of his career to apartment maintenance, where he became a respected mentor, supervising and training many others in the trade. His son and grandson are proudly following in his footsteps. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars, motorcycles, boats, and fishing. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Rick was known for his generosity, quick wit, and unforgettable sense of humor. He loved making a grand entrance on his chopper and brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and the very best “Ga Ga.”

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Wayne Harris and Rose Mae Stovall, and his brother, Terry Allen Harris.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Kimberly Lynn Harris; his sisters, Cheryl Ann Garner and Donna Jean New; his children, Richard Wayne Harris Jr., Jonathan Ryan Harris, and Jessica Marie Wood, Robyn Renee Harris, Lara Eileen Schanzer, Kyle Lee Lundberg, Kelly Lynn Wilson and Joshua George Wilson; and his cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Liam, and Levi along with one great grandchild on the way…

Rick’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for God and his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
