Rickey (Rick) Van Nichols, 73, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026. A funeral service celebrating Rick’s life will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church – Greenwood Campus, 1601 W. Main Street, Greenwood, MO 64034. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Beautiful Savior Nursing Home, 1003 S. Cedar Street, Belton, MO 64012.
Born on February 9, 1953, in Sullivan, Missouri, Rick was the son of Marvin and Berniece (Brueseke) Nichols. He was a graduate of college with a master’s degree in business and spent much of his career as the co-owner of Goodyear Midwest Tire & Service in Lee’s Summit. Through decades of hard work, integrity, and dedication, he built not only a successful business but lasting friendships with customers, employees, and the community.
Rick had a lifelong appreciation for classic cars and loved spending time around them whenever he could. He treasured being a father and especially being “Papa.” He was a wonderful dad and a favorite of his grandchildren.
Above all else, his faith in God and his family were the foundation of his life. His unwavering faith guided the way he lived, loved, and served others. He will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, steadfast devotion, and the example he set for everyone who knew him.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Berniece Nichols; his beloved wife, LuAnn Nichols; and his sister and brother-in-law. Rick is survived by his children, Arielle (Timothy) Rono, Adam Prichard, Lindsay (Kyle) Hare, and Chad Prichard; his brother, Randy (Margaret) Nichols; several nieces and nephews; his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Lincoln, Kaden, Randi, Alexis, Payton, Kelsey, Maddison, and Tanner; and his great-grandson, Kaysen.
Rick’s legacy of faith, love, generosity, and hard work will continue to live on through his family and all whose lives he touched.
