Toi L. Thompson


Toi LaTonya Thompson, 51, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026.  Services will be held on Saturday, June 20th at First Baptist Church, 500 W. Truman, Independence, MO, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial at 11:00 a.m. Contributions can be made to Wayside Waifs.

Toi was born December 11, 1974, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd Lane and Lenora Rose (Dawe) Lasher. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and organizing and riding for charities and different events. She loved to fish just like her father and loved to fish with him, as well. Toi was very honest and straight forward and would tell you like it was.  She had good core values and would stand by them no matter what. She had good ethics and morals and a strong faith in the Lord. She was always willing to give of her time and help, as well as give advice.  Toi was very inspiring, strong-willed, and was not a quitter. She was a very dedicated and hard worker even when she was sick. She passed away peacefully in her chair, sleeping with her beloved dog, Lucy, and the Lord by her side.

Toi was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Lane and JoAnn Lasher, stepbrother Phillip Harrison, stepson Stephen Thompson, and nephew Korbin Hart.

Her survivors include her stepson, Brian Thompson (Samantha True) of Harrisonville, MO; her mother and stepfather, Rose and Michael Hart of Independence, MO; 2 sisters: Bobbie Lawrence of Oak Grove, MO, and Michelle Merrow (Jason Elliott) of Garden City, MO; stepbrother, John Harrison of Blue Springs, MO; 1 step-granddaughter, Sadie Jane Thompson of Harrisonville, MO; 3 nieces: Kristin Ellis (Scott Ellis) of Odessa, MO, Sarah Lawrence (Jesse Kennedy) of Independence, MO, and Britainie Lawrence (Mickey Seymour) of Oak Grove, MO; 2 ½ great-nieces: Jade Niedel of Buckner, MO, Meadow Bradford of Independence, MO, and baby girl Kennedy on the way; 1 great-nephew, River Bradford of Independence, MO; and her big lovable companion and service dog, Lucy.
